Psychotherapy with the body as a compass

An integrated, nervous system-based approach

I offer psychotherapy with a special focus on what we sense in our bodies. The 'felt sense' – the immediate bodily expression of feelings, moods, and impulses – is a central part of my work. Our bodies often remember and react before we think, and through conscious presence with the body, it becomes possible to regulate the nervous system and create profound emotional change. I have clinics in Hellerup and Østerbro in Copenhagen, and I accept clients from nearby areas such as Gentofte and Lyngby. If you prefer to be in your own safe surroundings, I also offer online sessions in connection with psychotherapy.

How I work with psychotherapy

In a session, I work with whatever is weighing on you—it could be anxiety, low self-esteem, trauma, depression, or relationship issues. I integrate different methods depending on your needs and what emerges in the room:

1. Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)
We examine the emotions you display and what may lie behind them. The focus is on getting in touch with your original needs and meeting them with self-care—often in contact with your inner child.

2. Internal Family Systems (IFS)
IFS helps us understand the different parts of your psyche—some protect you, others carry pain. By working with your inner parts, we create insight into patterns and the opportunity to heal old wounds.

3. Somatic Experiencing (SE) & Polyvagal Theory
SE and Polyvagal Theory help us understand how the body reacts to trauma and stress. We work to calm your nervous system, support physical grounding, and dissolve stuck survival responses.

When the body remembers – why body-based therapy?

Trauma and stress affect the body. When we have experienced psychological violence, childhood trauma, or prolonged stress, the body can become trapped in a fight, flight, or freeze response. Body therapy works to:

  • Regulate the nervous system and achieve inner peace

  • Rebuilding security and contact in the body

  • Relieve anxiety, racing thoughts, and overwhelm

  • Connect with your own resources and boundaries

Typical themes in therapy

  • Regulation of the nervous system & stress management

  • Trauma Therapy & Somatic Experiencing (SE)

  • Anxiety, restlessness & overwhelm

  • Low self-esteem, shame & inner criticism

  • Attachment trauma & relationship issues

  • Long-term effects of psychological abuse or dysfunctional upbringing

  • Grief, crises & life changes

A safe and gentle approach

My approach is slow and respectful. We don't open up the most difficult memories right away—security in the relationship comes first. The therapeutic space should be a place where you can settle in and explore at your own pace.

As part of psychotherapy, it combines methods such as:

  • Somatic Experiencing (SE)

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS)

  • Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)

  • Mindfulness and meditation

  • Metacognitive therapy (for racing thoughts and stress)

I work under a 100% confidentiality agreement and receive ongoing supervision.
